Adoption of the Employer Pays Principle for Recruitment of Migrant Workers

With respect for the universal human rights of individuals, as part of the Thai Union Group, i-Tail strives to provide safe and fair treatment to all workers. Therefore, we adopted Thai Union’s Ethical Migrant Recruitment Policy to ensure safe migration and reduce the potential vulnerability of migrant workers to labor exploitation. The adoption of this policy represents an important step in achieving UN Sustainable Development Goal 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth.

From 2022, in the recruitment of migrant workers, i-Tail will cover the cost of agency service fee, uniform & working equipment, training, travelling expenses in the host country, health check, work permit, visa & passport, and travelling & accommodation in the home country.

i-Tail creates a safe workplace and working culture to reduce the risk of injury and death, including improving working procedures to prevent accidents, installating alarms and rescue systems, providing safety equipment to protect against injuries, and providing training on how to work safely, for example.

Incident Rate*

Units : time per hour based on 200,000 working hours reference

Note : i-Tail started to include the Samut Sakhon production plant under our operation from 1 January 2022 onwards. Therefore, the data collection before the date is not included.

* Incident rate = Total number of injuries and illnesses ÷ Number of hours worked by all employees x 200,000 hours**

**The 200,000 figure represents the hours that 100 employees would work during a 40-hour week, 50 weeks per year. Using this in the formula gives a ratio of injuries per 100 workers.
